Gus Tawse Aberdeen Final
Gus, 32, has been doing stand-up for five years and has done over 400 gigs. He’s is originally from the Kincorth area of Aberdeen. Gus first got into comedy after reading Frank Skinners biography and being inspired. Realising that Frank Skinner hadn’t started doing stand-up until he was 30, Gus decided to give it a go and hasn’t looked back since.
He’s a courier by day but helps to organise a weekly comedy night at Snafu Nightclub. Gus has twice finished in the top three of the Scottish Comedian of the Year competition and describes his comedy as controversial one-liners delivered in a charming dead pan style. Gus looks for inspiration for his material in anything from the daily newspapers to the latest episode of Eastenders.
He said: “It’s brilliant to even get this far. I’m hoping that I’ll be successful on the night and get to perform at the final at the Edinburgh Fringe. If I won the £12,000 I’d like to put it towards an old Capri but in reality I wouldn’t even get a look in before, Rachel, my other half snapped it up. My fiancé and I are getting married in a dream Las Vegas wedding next year and so far I’ve bought a kilt. Oops.”
