Pearse O'Halloran Inverness Final
A freelance graphic designer and ‘freelance’ postman, 30 year old Pearse O’Halloran originally hails Cork in Ireland and moved to Glasgow eight years ago. He is relatively new on the comedy scene performing his first gig only a few months ago. However he’s hit the ground running racking up eight gigs at venues across Glasgow and Edinburgh already.
He said: “I’d always fancied doing stand-up so when the chance came up for an absolute beginner’s night called ‘My First Gig’ and I got my first few laughs, I was hooked. My style of stand-up is very much like story-telling rather than delivering punch lines; I’m probably quite similar in delivery to Tommy Tiernan although I’d love to be as good as my hero, Bill Hicks. I prefer to invite the audience into my strange little world.”
In a surprising turn, Pearse has promised to invest the £1000 prize money if he won the Inverness regional final rather than spend it at the bar. “I’d like to use the money to invest in my comedy career by buying a high definition camera and making up my own website along the lines of the type of thing Limmy does.”
Asked what he’d do if he made it to the final with the chance to win £12,000, he said: “That’s too much for my wee postman head to even contemplate; can you imagine how many closes I’d have to climb to make that much! I’d invest the grand but completely fritter away the £12K - I’d buy a comedy bus, fill it with groupies and tour around the UK.”
